Creating a Post
How to write and publish blog posts such as market updates and community news on your Reapit Websites site.
Overview
Posts are dated articles that appear on your site's news or blog page — market updates, sold results round-ups, community sponsorships and similar. This article covers:
- Creating a new post
- Assigning categories and tags
- Setting the featured image and excerpt
- Publishing and scheduling
Creating a new post
- From the admin dashboard, navigate to Posts › Add New.
- Enter the post title and write your content using blocks, the same way as pages.
- Keep posts focused — 300 to 600 words with one or two images performs well for agency news.
Assigning categories and tags
Categories group your posts on the news page and help visitors browse:
- In the Post panel on the right, expand Categories.
- Tick an existing category (for example, Market Updates or Community), or select Add New Category.
- Optionally add Tags for finer-grained topics such as a suburb name.
Tip: Keep to a small set of categories — four to six is plenty. Use tags for suburbs and topics instead of creating a category for each.
Setting the featured image and excerpt
- Select Set featured image in the Post panel. This image appears on the news listing page and when the post is shared to social media.
- Expand Excerpt and write one or two sentences summarising the post. If left blank, the first lines of the post are used.
Publishing and scheduling
- Select Publish to make the post live immediately, or
- Select the date under Publish, choose a future date and time, and select Schedule. Scheduled posts go live automatically.
- After publishing, visit the post on the live site to check formatting and images.
Note: Posts appear on your news page automatically — there is no need to add them to a menu. The most recent posts may also appear on your homepage if your layout includes a latest-news section.
